Japan Airlines Domestic First Class Lounge in Sapporo: First Class in Name Only

Japan Airlines sets high expectations wherever it operates, especially when the words “First Class” are involved. Unfortunately, the Domestic First Class Lounge at Sapporo New Chitose Airport fails to live up to that promise in much the same way as its counterpart in Tokyo. While it technically meets the criteria of a premium lounge, the overall experience feels muted, basic and strangely joyless.

Japan Airlines Domestic First Class Lounge at Haneda Airport: A Surprisingly Somber Experience

Japan Airlines has a strong global reputation for refined service, thoughtful hospitality and an almost obsessive attention to detail. That makes the Domestic First Class Lounge at Tokyo Haneda Airport all the more puzzling. Despite carrying the “First Class” label and being accessible to oneworld Emerald members and domestic First Class passengers, this lounge feels far removed from what seasoned premium travelers might expect.

Europe Lounge Munich Airport: A Disappointing Stop After Security

Munich Airport is generally a functional place to transit, with efficient security and a solid range of Lufthansa lounges in Terminal 2. Unfortunately, the Europe Lounge does little to live up to that reputation in Terminal 1. While it technically offers a place to sit, eat and drink before a flight, the overall experience is underwhelming and, frankly, disappointing. This is one of those lounges that exists more out of necessity than comfort, and it shows in almost every aspect.

Bright and Practical: The Tempelhof Lounge at Berlin Brandenburg

Berlin Brandenburg Airport is not always associated with serenity, but the Tempelhof Lounge offers a welcome contrast. During a recent visit, I spent some time in this lounge and found it to be a solid, well-designed space that works equally well for relaxing and getting some work done. For travelers passing through Berlin, the Tempelhof Lounge is a practical and pleasant place to recharge before a flight.

Cathay Pacific Lounge Bangkok: A Calm, Crafted Haven Before Departure

Cathay Pacific lounges have a way of setting expectations high, and the Bangkok outpost lives up to that reputation with ease. For readers of Fly for Points, this lounge is another reminder of why Cathay Pacific consistently ranks among the best when it comes to premium ground experiences. Tucked away from the terminal bustle, it offers a refined space to unwind, dine, and reset before a flight.

Review: Air France KLM lounge in Munich

The Air France KLM lounge in Munich is one of those airport spaces that doesn’t often get much attention, largely because it serves a fairly niche group of passengers and sits quietly away from the main terminal flow. While it’s not a flagship lounge by any means, it still offers a distinctly Air France experience for those departing Munich on SkyTeam carriers and even Finnair. I recently spent some time here and came away with mixed but generally positive impressions, making it worth a closer look for anyone eligible to use it.

A Relaxing Priority Pass Perk at Haneda: Massage Service

Tokyo Haneda Airport is already one of the most pleasant major airports in the world, but one Priority Pass benefit makes it even better for travelers looking to unwind before a flight. Body Care LUCK is a massage service available to Priority Pass holders, offering a surprisingly good value and a genuinely relaxing experience before takeoff.

Japan Airlines Premium Economy in Asia: A Review

Japan Airlines is an airline I generally associate with consistency, calm service and a certain understated polish, even when flying outside Japan. On this short intra-Asia flight, I tried their Premium Economy to see how much of that long-haul experience carries over to a regional route. Short flights often reveal where airlines cut corners, so this was a good opportunity to see whether JAL’s Premium Economy offering is simply a nicer seat or a genuinely elevated experience from boarding to landing.

Priority Pass Restaurant at Haneda: The Grande Aile Experience

Priority Pass restaurants are becoming increasingly rare, especially in Asia, which makes the option at Tokyo Haneda Airport particularly interesting. Instead of a crowded lounge, Haneda offers eligible Priority Pass holders access to a proper sit-down restaurant with a buffet-style lunch. I recently tried it before a domestic flight, and while the experience had its highlights, it also came with some of the strictest access rules I’ve ever encountered with Priority Pass.

The Hidden Lounge at Yamagata Airport

Airport lounges tend to occupy a special place in the traveler’s imagination. They are often associated with a sense of calm, a small touch of luxury, and a chance to step away from the crowds of the terminal before a flight. Even at smaller regional airports, lounges can sometimes surprise you with thoughtful local touches or at least the basics: a drink, a snack or a quiet corner to sit. The lounge at Yamagata Airport in Japan, however, takes a very different approach—one that is worth understanding in advance so expectations are firmly grounded in reality.
