Cathay Pacific Business Class in A350 is wonderful

Cathay Pacific is one of my all time favorite airlines and they are known for their exquisite lounges in Hong Kong. But how is their best business class product? Quite amazing, I must say. I will go through my experience flying from Madrid to Shanghai on Cathay Pacific A350 plane.

Check-in and boarding

Cathay Pacific has a handy website where you can easily check all airport details including when the check-in counters open, where they are located and so on. I haven’t seen such an attention to detail from many other airlines. With Cathay Pacific, you don’t need to guess where to go.

Check-in opened 2.5 hours before departure at Madrid Barajas

Cathay Pacific has always a dedicated line for business class, premium economy and economy class. Usually they have a first class one as well for Emeralds even if the plane doesn’t have first class, but in Madrid, there was no first class line.

Getting on plane

A personal greeting and a welcome drink were offered to business class passengers. Before take off, the crew also took in the dinner order and told everyone to fill in their breakfast order before prelanding breakfast time.

Seat and amenities

The seat is a typical business class seat that declines into a bed. There’s plenty of room for stowing your stuff in several seat compartments. There’s a super fluffy blanket and pillow and a comfy mattress to turn your seat into a bed.

Can’t complain about the leg room either

The amenity kit looks stunning, it’s made of leather and it has a nice magnetic button that makes the pouch easy to close. Inside there’s some toiletries such as toothbrush, mouth wash, pillow mist, lotions and so on. There’s also an eye mask and earplugs.

The entertainment system is great. The screen is large and bright and there’s a noise cancelling headset as well. There are many movies, games and music. Although, the movie section is way superior to the music section.

Lunch

There’s an ample lunch menu with a choice of a starter, main and desert. The food was extremely good and it was served very fast despite the cabin being fully sold out.

Starter soup. The plate next to it was soon filled with the most delicious garlic bread
The main course was so tender
It was either cheese or dessert… If I had only known that…

Beverages

There’s a long list of drinks on this flight. You must try at least their signature Cathay Delight and Cloud 9 drinks! Also Hong Kong milk tea never lets you down. I was curious about their Chinese wines, but unfortunately they had only one kind despite the menu indicating otherwise.

Cloud 9, you should try one… Or several, like I did

Dine on demand

If you feel hungry during the flight, you can order from their dine on demand menu whenever you feel like it. I asked for an ice cream, but they had run out, so I got a cheese cake, which wasn’t even on the on demand menu. 😊

Breakfast

Again, there’s a lot of choice in breakfasts and because of that, the crew wants your order way ahead of time. Just fill their breakfast order form and leave it hanging from the coat hanger.

Deplaning

Cathay Pacific always lets business class out first and only then premium economy and economy. In the end, everyone ends up in the same bus, so it didn’t change the outcome much. To my surprise, the crew had memorized everyone’s names and said goodbyes by name to all businesses class passengers as we were getting out of the plane. Wow! And as always with Cathay Pacific, priority bags are delivered fast.

Conclusion

Cathay Pacific is great and their service is top notch. They take luxurious service very seriously and always deliver a great experience. Regardless of the class of travel, they always make me feel welcome. Thank you Cathay Pacific!
