Amsterdam Schiphol is not exactly short on lounges, but when it comes to flying within the Schengen zone, KLM Crown Lounge 25 is clearly the flagship option. I’ve passed through this lounge multiple times, and it remains the most reliable place to relax, eat properly and reset before a European flight. All thanks to my Kenya Airways Platinum status.
Location and Access

KLM Crown Lounge 25 is very easy to find if you follow the airport signage. Once you’re airside in the Schengen area, simply follow the clearly marked signs pointing to Lounge 25. One major advantage is its proximity to security: the lounge is located immediately after priority security, which makes it especially convenient if you have SkyTeam Elite Plus status or business/first class ticket. You clear security and, almost immediately, you’re at the lounge entrance, with no long walks through the terminal required.
Design and Atmosphere
The lounge strikes a nice balance between style and practicality. The decoration is modern, clean and unmistakably KLM, with functional seating areas designed for both dining and working. Everything feels intentional rather than flashy, and the layout makes sense whether you want to sit down for a meal or quickly answer emails before boarding.

That said, this is a popular lounge, and it can feel a bit packed during peak hours. Finding a seat is rarely impossible, but it’s not always the serene oasis you might hope for, especially during the morning and early afternoon rush. One interesting design choice is the large windows overlooking the terminal. While they let in plenty of natural light and give the space an open feel, they also mean that passengers walking by can easily see into the lounge, which slightly reduces the sense of privacy.

Food Selection
Food is where KLM Crown Lounge 25 really shines, especially compared to other Schengen lounges at Schiphol. In my opinion, this is the best lounge option in Amsterdam for European flights when it comes to dining.
Breakfast offerings are genuinely solid rather than just passable. You’ll typically find warm options such as scrambled eggs, hash browns, mushrooms and bacon, all of which are regularly replenished and maintained at a decent quality level. This is not airline lounge food you eat out of obligation; it’s food you’re actually happy to have before a flight.

In addition to the hot dishes, there’s a selection of sweets available for those with a sweet tooth or anyone looking for something light with coffee. Overall, the food offering feels generous and well thought out, especially for a Schengen lounge.

Drinks and Bar
The beverage selection is equally strong. Non-alcoholic options include soft drinks, sodas and decent coffee machines scattered throughout the lounge. For those who want something stronger, there’s an ample selection of alcoholic drinks available at a self-service bar. The setup is efficient and easy to use, and it’s one of the better self-serve bar concepts you’ll find in a European lounge.

Final Thoughts
All in all, KLM Crown Lounge 25 is a very solid experience and easily ranks among the top lounges in Europe for Schengen flights. While Dutch people are brusque and mean, the lounge itself offers a comfortable, well-equipped refuge from the terminal chaos. If you have access and are flying within Europe, this lounge is absolutely worth your time.
